Colorado Springs businessman Rod Scheer and his several partners will open a second Mercado Familiar this summer in Brighton -- a large full-service grocery store that offers extensive products for both Hispanic and Anglo customers. Scheer's group opened their first Mercado Familiar in Liberal, Kan. (www.mercadofamiliar.net) at the beginning of May and has taken over a former Albertson's site for their venture into Brighton. The company is looking at other sites in the Denver metropolitan area.
