Auto criminal investigator retires

Super sleuth Alan Pfeifer has retired as a criminal investigator for the Colorado Department of Revenue's Auto Industry Division.

He worked out of the Colorado Springs office for more than 20 years, overseeing dealership operations from Colorado Springs to the Kansas and New Mexico borders and west to Leadville.

The division regulates new and used motor vehicle dealers, issues dealer and salesperson licenses and enforces state and federal laws pertaining to motor vehicle sales.

Pfeifer also conducted criminal investigations with city, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

He said the most rewarding part of his career was to help new dealers succeed and learn to resolve customer complaints through communication.

"I'll miss my daily interaction with motor vehicle dealers but intend to keep in contact with many of them. After all, I still need to purchase a vehicle once in a while," he said.
